Bolton Abbey, technically a priory - an Augustinian Priory - was established in 1154 beside the River Wharfe between Ilkley and Burnsall. The owner of Skipton Castle at the time, Lady Alice de Romille, gave the land to Augustinian priests and their Prior to build a priory. After four hundred years, in 1539, the priory became a victim of the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII.

The photos were taken with a Fujifilm Finepix S5000 camera in the New Zealand autumn (March and early April) of 2005. They are included for my personal enjoyment - but I invite you to browse through them, in the hope they will be pleasing. They are not offered for sale.

Norway is a kingdom in northern Europe. It is renowned for its fjords, mountains and mountain trolls.
The awesome journey from the very northern most point of Norway, Nordcap, south along the west coast takes you over mountain passes, through dark tunnels, over the deep waters of many fjords by ferry and unbelievable bridges.

The Kingdom of Spain occupies a large part of the Iberian Peninsular in Southwest Europe. Probably best known for its Mediterranean costas - Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca etc. - you know the ones - but much of Spain's beauty lies away from the coasts in its mountains, rivers and plateaus.

Wales is, for the most part, a mountainous country. Lying to the west of England it is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

The Yorkshire Dales is a National Park in Yorkshire - England's largest county. Set in beautiful, rolling, verdant green hills and dales. Crisscrossed with picturesque dry-stone walls that take no notice of steep valley sides. The lush meadows are peppered with field barns, often in a state of delightful, photogenic neglect. A walk among the fells and riverbanks can, surely, never fail to please, especially when the lure of a cosy, welcoming Yorkshire Dales village pub beckons at the end of a wonderful day in the countryside.
